Moving questions, answered straight
These are the questions Houston folks ask us most before they book. If yours is not here, call (888) 711-4778 and a real person from our office will get you an answer, usually within a business hour.
What does a local move in Houston run?
It comes down to home size, how far apart the two addresses are, and the time of year. Most local moves inside the metro land between $475 and $2,650. You get the number in writing, with every line spelled out, before move day, and that flat rate does not change at the curb.
Do you take a deposit to hold a date?
A small booking deposit (usually $125-$225) reserves your slot, and it comes straight off the final bill. The exact terms are right there in your written estimate, no fine print.
Are you actually licensed and insured?
Yes. Big Heart Moving carries full liability and cargo coverage on every job and keeps all the state credentials current for local and long-distance work. We hand you proof with the estimate.
How early should I book?
Between June and September, give us about three weeks to lock your date and a cool morning start. In fall and winter, a week to ten days usually does it. Smaller moves we can sometimes fit on short notice, just call and ask.
What comes standard with a local move?
Blanket-wrapping your furniture, loading, the drive, and unloading where you point. We take apart and put back beds and tables as part of the job. Boxes and full packing are add-ons if you want them.
What if I have to cancel?
Cancel more than 48 hours out and there is no fee. Inside 48 hours there may be a charge for crew time we already set aside. It is all laid out in your written estimate up front.
Do you run long-distance moves out of Houston?
We do. We handle interstate and out-of-town moves from the metro, with regular runs to Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Denver, Atlanta, and New Orleans. You get a binding written price before you commit.
Can you move me out of a walk-up with no elevator?
Absolutely, that is half of what we do. Tell us the floor, how tight the stairwell is, and the parking situation when you ask for a quote, and we send a crew that has done your kind of building before.
Do you offer storage?
Yes, climate-controlled and short-term, for when your move-out and move-in dates do not line up. Rates and the facility details ride along with your estimate.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Every move is covered by cargo insurance. If a piece comes in damaged, call us right away, we run the claim ourselves: document it, check coverage, and sort it out fast. It is on us, not you, to chase it down.
Does Big Heart actually do the move, or hand it off?
We do it. Big Heart is a real Houston moving company with our own licensed, insured crew. From the quote to the last box, you are dealing with our team and our trucks, never a subcontractor you have never heard of.
How does the quote work, start to finish?
You send the details by phone or through the site, home size, both addresses, the date, anything special. We put together a written flat-rate estimate, confirm a crew and date, and check back to make sure the day goes clean.
